Cactus Gardens

Purple, yellow, orange, and blue were just some of the colors that danced across our vision as we walked along the garden paths. The Cactus Garden here in Las Vegas came alive with beautiful flowers, prickling pears, agave, and many variations of cacti. We were fascinated with one cactus in particular that was called a pancake cactus. The paddles were in the perfect circular shape and looked just like pancakes. The colors were purple, greenish blue, and violet with a tinge of red. Our family talked about how we love making pancakes. Around Christmas time, we enjoy gingerbread pancakes. On Valentine’s Day we make strawberry pancakes and I even tried beet ones before which were not a big hit. Do you have a favorite type of pancake? Banana Pancakes are always an inspired favorite while playing the song by Jack Johnson. Leave a comment below if you know the song I am writing about. Needless to say that this cactus, along with the short walk in the heat, was very magical.

Whenever we go to the cactus garden we also venture into the chocolate factory. Today we enjoyed free dark and milk chocolate samples. We marveled at the people making the chocolate and loved seeing the machines involved on the factory floor. A water bottle was lost and found. Milkshakes were purchased, consumed, and enjoyed. Truffles were sampled and our tastebuds danced with delight. Upon leaving the chocolate, many goodbyes and waves were exchanged. The Cactus Gardens at Ethel M Chocolate Factory in Las Vegas is a very wonderful place indeed. If any of you get the chance to go, they put on a light show around Christmas time with many family photo opportunities. I also recommend going during the day on a more climate friendly day especially if you have little ones. On days like today, we were only able to stay for about ten to twenty minutes outside in the shade before it got too warm and we had to leave. The fall and winter months are the best times to go for seeing the cactus in comfortable weather. Spring is the best time to go to see the flowers and pollinators. I hope you enjoyed my little blog post today and our story. Thank you for reading and have a wonderful Wednesday!
